Delay in collection of 2021 Direct Debit subscriptions

Notice from GOBA chairman regarding delayed collection of Subs by Direct Debit: > > GOBA have finally been able to access the BACS Direct Debit payments system that has been so elusive over the last 10 months with a successful trial earlier this month. We would like to apologise for the delay, this was caused by delays in renewal of bank mandates (changes in personnel) and a broken database. > Payments will be drawn down over the next few weeks, if you are affected you will get a warning from your bank that this is happening. Once this phase is complete (collection of 2021 subs) GOBA will revert to collection in February as normal. > Roger Lill, chairman > >

  1. Have just received email that my membership is about to expire. Does this mean you can’t access my direct debit? 8/2/22

    1. Dear Member,

      If you pay your membership by Direct Debit you may have received a self generated reminder email on Tuesday 8 February suggesting that your membership is about to run out.

      It appears gremlins have got into the system again. What it should have said is :-
      “although your 2021 membership has now run out, if you pay by DD your 2022 membership will automatically be taken in a few days”.

      So as long as your direct debit remains in place – you don’t need to do anything – other than to continue to enjoy the many benefits of GOBA membership!

Our membership DD for 2022 has been taken twice from our Bank Account, I emailed [email protected] last Thursday but have not yet received a reply, this was the second email I have sent regarding this matter, I am also finding it difficult to contact our Bank to cancel the latest DD(if that is even possible) Please can you contact me ASAP. We have been members for the last 30years and have never experienced any problems with payment.

          when Mike Mackay died last year we lost all banking mandates as he hadn’t renewed them regularly.
          as you might expect this threw GOBA into a frenzy of activity, banks were working from home or concentrating on bounce back loan defaults.
          i spent 4 and a half hours at barclays once i found a bank manager i could speak to, even so we didn’t get Bacs until November. so forgive us if we seem a little bit busy sorting out the resultant mess, we are only volunteers you know.

    We seem to be in the same boat as most of these comments, so I’m sorry to carry on the vein, we have tried to renew fees via the page on here to update membership, and the select button for the fee, however the PayPal wont accept that method of payment. We have tried the alternate methods that are suggested by PayPal but to no avail. We totally understand that your all volunteers, and we do thankyou for your time and efforts; “so what do we do now”? I have tried to contact committee members via there contact buttons on their profile, again it wont link up, I may be a total twit when it comes to IT though, (just sayin) there’s no rush to answer, we just wanted to make you aware in case we are asked whilst we are in a GOBA mooring without a badge, which has happened to us before.

      i can see you tried 3 times unsuccessfully on the 12th April. it registers here as “token” which means the money has not gone through.
      some of us manage it, some of us don’t. i can offer you payment by bank transfer. please email me [email protected] and i’ll give you the bank details
