On Friday, the decision was taken by me, the Chair, in conjunction with the Deputy Chair Anna Bradnam, and the CEO Helen Cleary, to close Jesus Green Lock with no further notice.
As you are aware from the survey conducted earlier in the year, the doors are at risk of failure, which could be catastrophic. We had undertaken regular inspections but have now been told that guaranteeing the safety of the structure is not something our Contractors, nor the surveyor, is willing to do.
Last week we also received the schedule of works to the lock, now agreed, for the start of October in less than 3 weeks’ time.
